Do you like going to festivals, but don't always have to do this in a tent that is far too warm on a campsite that is far too noisy? A campsite where you never know for sure whether you will get an unexpected visit from a drunk neighbour at night, who then lies down and does not wake up again until the next afternoon. You can buy a day ticket or book a hotel room in the nearest village every evening, but in recent years there has been another alternative at some festivals. For example, there are a few festivals that have a separate campsite for campers and caravans. Not that these campsites are necessarily more civilised, but you certainly enjoy a bit more privacy and comfort. We hear from experts that there is also a more relaxed atmosphere at the camper campsite than at the standard campsite. This way, your festival experience will be even better thanks to your caravan or camper. 

Protection against heat and sun

A big advantage of a mobile home or caravan is of course the better insulation. There is also a big difference with a tent against the sounds of your neighbours, but the most noticeable is the protection against sun and heat. Not that a camper or caravan that is standing right in the sun will not be warm, but it is nothing compared to waking up in that overheated tent where even breathing is a challenge. 

Comfort and hygiene

Agreed, many people enjoy living like a pig at the campsite even more than the festival itself. For these people, this is not really a valuable tip. Then again, for others, this is a very valuable tip. Of course, showering every morning and evening and never venturing onto the festival grounds without freshly washed hair is not the point. Nevertheless, it is nice to have your own toilet and to be able to freshen up in comfort after a long, hot day. Imagine being able to go to the toilet in the evening in peace and quiet in the fresh aroma of, Solbio for example? No more queuing in a musty maze of dixies! 

Kitchen and cooling facilities

People who visit as many festivals as possible every summer know that such a festival requires a corresponding diet. On the field, the fast food is far too expensive and once back at the campsite, the pot usually provides noodles or other easy to prepare one-pot meals. Here too, for some, the charm of a festival, others have had enough of this way of (sur)viving after a few summers full of festivals. If you go with a camper or caravan, the possibilities are a lot more extensive. Imagine: Starting each festival day with an extensive breakfast, an egg and some soft drinks, because you have a fridge, fruit juice? In the evening, enjoy a freshly cooked spaghetti or even a barbecue between your favourite acts. Especially for people who have already experienced their wild years at the festivals, this new way of life at a festival is an added value. If you are lucky, your mobile home or caravan even has a freezer. Water ices at an overheated festival, imagine that!

Mobility

Another great advantage of this way of camping at a festival is the mobility. Your festival does not start or end with a hellish ride of buses and trains and transfers. If you plan well, you can even make a road trip through Europe where you travel from festival to festival and see a bit of the world in the meantime. This way you can easily alternate between campsites, city trips and the occasional festival. 

What should you pay attention to?

Don't forget that such a camper or caravan camping is not standard at all festivals. So plan well in advance whether you can actually stay overnight at the festival with your camper or caravan. The availability of accommodation for these vehicles depends strongly from festival to festival. Some very large festivals have a separate camping for this way of camping, but there are also many large festivals where this is not possible.
